Xiaomi shows MIUI 12.5 and is full of improvements

Xiaomi has announced a new and improved version of the MIUI skin. With MIUI 12.5, the manufacturer promises a lot of improvements for the various Mi devices. What can we expect at MIUI 12.5?

MIUI 12.5 has been announced by Xiaomi. The new version of the skin contains several improvements and optimizations that should make the skin even better. Xiaomi also showed the new Xiaomi Mi 11 last week. This smartphone does not immediately come with MIUI 12.5, but will of course receive this update in the long term, just like various other devices.

Xiaomi claims that MIUI 12.5 is both faster and more energy efficient. Memory usage should be reduced by 20 percent in the new version. Background processes are also being optimized, where usage should decrease by 35 percent. According to Xiaomi, energy consumption must be improved by 25 percent. Interesting, given that the Xiaomi devices today already score very well with their battery life, as we wrote in the Poco X3 NFC review and Redmi Note 9 Pro review.

MIUI 12.5 brings further improvements and refinements to the interface design. Among other things with new transition effects that should also be faster. Xiaomi also brings various privacy improvements and fewer pre-installed applications, the manufacturer promises. New wallpapers and sounds have also been added in the new version of MIUI. These are inspired from different places around the world. Thanks to other improvements, it has been made easier to connect your smartphone to your laptop and view notifications from your smartphone on the big screen.

It is not yet known which devices can expect the MIUI 12.5 update and when this will happen. In mid-January, Xiaomi will open the beta in China for the Mi 10 series, Redmi Note 7 and Mi 9 series. According to the information, all MIUI 12 devices should eventually receive the update to MIUI 12.5. The final version will arrive in China at the end of April, but nothing is known for Europe yet.
