Spotify comes with more innovations, what do you think of the new design? (+poll)

Spotify has recently been renewing the design and layout of the app. For example, this month it came with a new home screen and they are currently testing a new user interface for the user profile. Among other things, there will be a function that makes it even easier to discover music and follow people. What do you think of the new layout?

New user profile

Spotify has confirmed to TechCrunch that it is working on a new user profile format. If you go to your profile page right now, there’s not a whole lot to see yet. For example, you only see your set photo, the number of followers and people you follow, and your created playlists. However, this must change.

For example, the layout will soon be shown in card style and it will be more of a social media profile in terms of design. For example, you will probably be able to see on these pages how long someone has subscribed to the service, what kind of subscription someone has and in which country they are located. You will also find a button with which you can follow that person directly. In addition, there will be a new ‘Discover more features button’ in which the app gives you advice to get even more out of the app and your listening experience. It also says ‘View more cards’, so more functions will probably be added later.

A user on Twitter saw the function first and also posted some photos, which you can find below. Some users report that they already have the new profile page. Speaking to TechCrunch, Spotify says it is testing the feature in various markets, but the stable update has not yet been distributed. When it will come is not yet known.

New design and layout Spotify, what do you think?

Spotify introduced a completely new home screen layout at the beginning of this month. When you open it now, your most listened to podcasts and albums will appear at the top, but the party really starts below that. In a TikTok-like environment, you can scroll through various podcast episodes, music tracks, and albums. A preview of the episode or song also immediately starts playing when scrolling. With the new design, Spotify wants to ensure that people can discover new things faster and more easily.

At our editorial office, we are not entirely positive about the new layout. I don’t consider it successful. The main screen – which has become less and less clear over the years – is now quite a mess in which you can no longer find certain albums or podcasts so quickly. Discovering music and podcasts is also far from ideal in my opinion, if only because the music and podcasts that are proposed are not close to my favorite genres.

Now Spotify is getting bigger and the app offers more and more things. It’s not just a streaming app anymore. Over the years, podcasts, audiobooks, and live audio have been added, among other things. To house all this in one app – called Spotify – is not easy. I don’t think Spotify is on the right path for this at the moment.
