iMessage: Apple will propose in the United Kingdom its measures to fight against child pornography
After the United States with iOS 15.2, it will be the turn of the United Kingdom to have the right to Apple’s preventive measures for iMessage in order to fight against child pornography. There is no date yet for France or other countries.
Apple’s iMessage measures are coming to the UK
With Apple’s system, an analysis of sent and received iMessages is performed to determine if there is nudity. It is a way to warn children so that they do not open this type of content. If nudity is detected in a photo received by a child, the photo is blurred and the child will receive resources from child protection groups. Nudity in a photo submitted by a child will trigger a warning encouraging the child not to submit the image.
Parents have control over this feature and can enable it (or not) on their children’s iPhones. By the way, the verification of content with nudity is done directly on the iPhone and not on Apple’s servers.
According to The Guardian, Apple’s preventive measures for iMessage to combat child pornography will be available in the UK in a few weeks with an update. We can imagine that it will be with the final version of iOS 15.5. This version is currently available in beta, with the second beta also released yesterday for developers and today for public testers.
