Beware of FluBot malware, it spreads via SMS messages

Dangerous malware is spreading abroad FluBot and it is likely that in time it will appear in our country as well. Why it is dangerous and on what principle it works is approached by the portal CertNZ.

FluBot malware can look like a security update

Malware appeared in New Zealand. As with other types of malware, it uses SMS messages. An SMS message may prompt you to download a tracking application, or use a more sophisticated method. It notifies the user that their smartphone has been infected with malware and requires a security update to remove it. Even for a more careful person, it may sound more trustworthy and click on the link.

After clicking the button for installation, the malware is already one foot in the smartphone. However, it will require permission to install from unknown sources to complete its intent, and this should be a sufficient warning to the more experienced user, as security applications never require this permission.

FluBot has already appeared in neighboring countries

Flubot malware is mainly used to steal personal data, including bank information. For example, if an attacker accesses your credit card information, they may deprive you of money. The malware is said to already operate in Europe (for example in Hungary) and in time it will certainly appear in Slovakia as well. Therefore, beware of SMS messages that appear as messages from shipping companies (UPS, DHL, etc.) or as a security update.

If you have already encountered a similar type of SMS message, clicked on its link and installed the software offered by it, then you will first notify your bank. Of course, he also contacts the police authorities and immediately change the login passwords in his services. If any of them also offers a more advanced form of verification, then be sure to use it.
