iPad mini 6 shows discoloration and distortion on screen when touched
The new iPad mini from Apple has besides the jelly scrollingeffect may be another screen issue. According to users, discoloration can be seen on the iPad mini 6’s screen, even with a little firm press.

This indicates that Apple’s new iPad mini may still have a screen problem. Besides the already known jelly scrolling-effect users report on reddit that they suffer from discoloration and distortion on the display.
Whether this is an ‘expected’ deviation, as with the jelly scrolling effect, remains to be seen. Affected users report that the screen discolors and the display distorts if you touch the touchscreen a little too firmly in portrait mode. This is especially noticeable in iPadOS dark mode. In principle, LCD panels can discolor and deform when pressed hard; this is normal. This effect is also clearly visible on previous iPads, such as the 5th generation of iPad Air.
However, the users claim that the pressure exerted that leads to the effects is very light. A replacement device from Apple also offered no solace, according to one user. Several other users were able to reproduce the problem, they reported on Reddit. The effect does not occur exactly at the point where the screen is touched, but slightly above it.
Will there be another response from Apple?
Shortly after the first reports on the jelly scrolling effect on the iPad mini 6, Apple already responded. The effect is seen as normal behavior of LCD panels. LCDs are updated line by line, causing a slight delay between updating the lines at the top and the lines at the bottom of the screen. This could lead to uneven scrolling issues like those seen on the iPad mini, Apple explained.
However, iFixit’s techs recently discovered that the jelly scrolling may have to do with the placement of the so-called display connector. It’s on the right side of the iPad mini, while it’s at the top of the screen with the iPad Air, for example. As a result, the right half of the screen refreshes a fraction of a second faster than the left half.
