You will find your COVID EU passport in the VšZP insurance company application from Saturday

The COVID passports approved by the European Parliament have been launched in Slovakia since Saturday, June 26. The General Health Insurance Company is the first to bring it in its mobile application. According to the portal Novinky.sk it should be followed soon by other insurance companies.

Certificates of vaccination, negative test results and also COVID overdose will be available

The EU COVID passport should first and foremost facilitate travel to other Member States of the European Union and will be available in paper or digital form with a QR code. In addition to the vaccination certificate, there will be two other certificates of negative result in a recent test or disease. All three should be valid for another 12 months within the EU from 1 July.

The General Health Insurance Company was the first to download the COVID EU passport in the mobile application. All you have to do is register in the application by scanning your ID card and face, select the EU COVID Certificate section in the sidebar and download the available document. There is also a QR code that can be scanned by officials and download the document themselves to verify your vaccination.

So far, only vaccination certificates are available. The other two documents will not be available until Saturday 1 July. The general health insurance company should soon be followed in its applications by the Trust and UNION insurance companies as well.

Basic information about certificates in the VšZP application:

  • Certificates issued by NCZI will be displayed in the VšZP mobile application.
  • The EU COVID certificate is valid in all EU countries that will recognize vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and will be able to accept other preparations on a voluntary basis, such as the Russian Sputnik V.
  • The electronic version of the certificate can be downloaded and saved on a mobile device.
  • Policyholders can also request a paper version. However, the simplest and at the same time safest is to have an EU COVID certificate in a mobile application – you always have it with you, without the risk of loss, with maximum protection of personal and sensitive data.
  • VšZP policyholders can also activate it using facial biometrics. All you need is a mobile phone with the Android or iOS operating system, a valid ID card and a few minutes of time.
  • Both digital and paper versions will have a QR code that contains basic information as well as a digital signature. It confirms the authenticity of the EU COVID certificate and at the same time protects it from forgery.
  • The certificate is safe and protected, it contains only basic information about the insured and the necessary data regarding vaccination, resp. testing.
  • It is published in the state language and in English.
