You can now run WhatsApp on other devices, even with your mobile offline

For several months now, WhatsApp has been testing a feature that allows users to link their account to multiple devices at once without having to have the main device online. According to the Gizchin portal, the news is now officially available to all users through the latest update.

Until now, you could only use the chat service on another device if the main device was connected to the Internet, now it will work without it. However, you’ll need to run the app on it at least once every 14 days, or all connected devices will be removed from your account. The novelty also comes with a few restrictions.

Currently, only four devices can be connected to the account, and the feature is not available for tablets. If your main smartphone is running on iOS, you won’t be able to delete messages or conversations on connected devices. In addition, you will not connect to users with an older version of the application via connected devices. Also, you won’t see the other user’s location through them, and you won’t be able to watch and create live broadcasts.

Conversation encryption will continue to work

The novelty can be enabled in the mobile application of the service in the section “Connected devices”. You can access it by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner of the app. After enabling the feature, the service will log you out of all devices on which you have used it before. However, in terms of privacy and data security, everything remains the same. WhatsApp assures users that all messages will continue to be encrypted.
