Update 06/03/2021: Xiaomi is now also the largest manufacturer worldwide. That news was recently announced, and two days after it turned out that the brand has sold the most devices in Europe. We have edited and republished this article.

Xiaomi largest manufacturer

According to the latest figures from Strategy Analytics, it is not Samsung, but Xiaomi that has sold the most phones in Europe in the second quarter of this year. Xiaomi sold 12.7 million units compared to 12 million Galaxy phones, Business Wire reported.

We see in the figures that Xiaomi has also grown strongly compared to a year earlier, namely by 67.1%. Apple comes in third place and, unlike its South Korean competitor, managed to achieve growth figures during this period. The top 5 is closed by OPPO and Realme, each of which can present strong growth figures.

Xiaomi worldwide number one

If we then look at XIaomi’s market share worldwide, we see that Xiaomi has a share of 17.1%. This is evident from data from Counterpoint Research. Both Samsung and Apple are seeing their market share decline at the same time, accounting for 15.7% and 14.3% of the global market respectively. More precisely, the switch of power between Samsung and Xiaomi took place in June of 2021, Samsung is currently suffering from inventory problems due to a new wave of COVID-19 that is putting pressure on its production in Vietnam. Xiaomi, on the other hand, saw its sales increase by 26 percent in June compared to May this year.

‘Rich features and good price’

“Xiaomi has sold nearly 13 million units in Europe, surpassing long-time leading Samsung,” said Boris Metodiev, associate director at Strategy Analytics. “Xiaomi has achieved great success in Russia, Ukraine, Spain and Italy, among others. Customers covet the Mi and Redmi ranges for their rich features and good price.”

Last month it was announced that Xiaomi has become the number two worldwide and that it has already surpassed Apple. Apple is now looking forward to better sales once the ipHone 13 is available, and Samsung has yet to see if it gets its stock of phones in order. It is mainly Galaxy A smartphones that are in short supply worldwide, and those midrange devices are just the sales guns of the brand.
