US bans Huawei even further: ban on sales

Huawei is not on the list of the most loved companies in the United States. Previously, far-reaching sanctions were imposed against the company, now the sale is prohibited.

Huawei sales ban in US

In the United States, FCC, an American telecom and media regulator, has banned the sale of telecommunications equipment from the Chinese brand Huawei. In addition, there is now a ban on importing Huawei products. It is another step in the fight against espionage, of which several Chinese companies have been accused. However, evidence has never been found for this.

In 2019, the United States announced that it was imposing sanctions on the Chinese manufacturer. Huawei was no longer allowed to do business with American manufacturers and was therefore in serious trouble. After all, it used processors from Qualcomm and, of course, used Google for the Android system. The newer devices were therefore not equipped with things like Google Maps or even the Play Store. The AppGallery was rigged by Huawei and the company made every effort to offer a solid alternative to the services, but the pure Android experience was gone.

Unlike their wildly popular predecessors, the Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Mate 40 Pro were not a success. Which was due to the absence of Google services.

More countries

Measures have now been taken in more countries to avoid Chinese brands from networks. Consider, for example, the fact that Huawei in the Netherlands is not allowed to participate in important components in the construction of the 5G network. Steps have also been taken in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany, among others. Huawei, incidentally, denies any involvement in this.

The sales and import ban for Huawei also applies to four other manufacturers from China. It concerns ZTE, a well-known telecom manufacturer that has some market share in Germany, among others. We also see Hikvision and Dahua Technology that focus on making smart cameras, and Hytera, which focuses on radio systems.
