The trio of TCL smartphones receive an update on Android 11

Mark TCL is known to us mainly for its LCD TVs or smartphones with a licensed Alcatel brand. However, it also offers smartphones with its own logo, and some of them should now receive an update to Android 11. Which will it be?

A total of three models received Android 11

For flag model TCL 10 Pro an update will be available via the OTA update in the coming days on the Slovak and Czech markets. The smartphone was introduced in early April with Android 10 and the TCL UI extension. It attracts a 6.47-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a 64-megapixel camera with four sensors.

In the coming weeks, OTA updates will be released on Android 11 for models as well TCL 10 Plus and TCL 10L. The TCL Plus smartphone was introduced in July and launched in August. It offers the same display as the TCL Pro, but also a weaker chipset and a lower resolution camera. The lower model is also the TCL 10L, which has a 6.53-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a 48-megapixel camera with four sensors.

According to the manufacturer, the update should bring a new version of Android 11, better control and increased security. However, it does not specify the security patch version. You can find out the availability of the update in the Settings of your smartphone. To install, make sure your battery is at least 70% charged.

What does Android 11 bring?

For example, Android 11 will bring TCL to smartphones, for example, changes in notifications that will always display incoming messages from communication applications on top. The user will be able to minimize communications even to floating bubbles. The power button gives you quick access to credit card withdrawals on Google Pay and quick control of connected smart devices at home.

Security will also increase. You will be able to grant applications permission once and you will have the option of automatically resetting permissions when not using applications. People with disabilities will be able to use a new voice control of the whole system called Voice Access. Quick notification bar settings get a new video button for recording your desktop and apps on your smartphone.

How is the competition?

There is also competition in the updates of their smartphones. South Korean giant Samsung launched last week an update of the Galaxy S20 models on Android 11 with the One UI 3.0 extension. OnePlus has updated the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. They received the OxygenOS 11 built on the Android 11 system. Huawei again brought the MIUI 11 superstructure to the Huawei P40, P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro models.
