TCL teases rollable phone, brings Google TV to televisions

TCL shows a concept of a rollable phone in a new teaser video. The device is very compact, but can roll out into a large smartphone. The company will also work with Google TV for its smart TVs.

TCL’s rollable phone

Just yesterday we got to see a video from LG that gave us a brief glimpse of its rollable smartphone. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty around the product and we are still left with the question whether the device is only a concept or will actually be on the market. After LG, it is now up to the Chinese TCA to … roll the muscles.

During its press conference at the CES tech fair in Las Vegas, TCL shows a long teaser video showing a compact smartphone that is almost square in its smallest form. Then we see how the screen of the device is rolled out in length instead of width. That is different from what we saw before with OPPO’s X 2021 concept and the LG Rollable. The phone has a 6.7 inch AMOLED screen in its largest form. TCL immediately makes it clear that its so-called ‘CS0T’ smartphone is a concept. It is not yet known if and when the brand will release a consumer rollable.

Google TV

TCL is also the only one besides Sony to announce at CES that it will work with Google TV for its smart TVs. Google TV is Google’s new platform for smart TVs that works on the basis of Android TV. One of the most important aspects is that Google TV recommends content on the home screen based on the streaming services you have subscribed to. The system was launched together with the new Chromecast.

For now, we don’t know which specific models will work with Google TV, but TCL says they are Mini-LED, 8K and QLED range devices. Would you like a smart TV with Google TV and what do you think of TCLS’s rollable phone? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
