SharePlay returns in first beta of iOS 15.1

Apple decided to delay the release of SharePlay because the feature was not yet working properly. Apple has since solved the problems.

SharePlay available in iOS 15.1

Apple has only just rolled out iOS 15 to the general public, but the first beta of iOS 15.1 is already available. A number of features that we had to miss in iOS 15 are returning in iOS 15.1. This includes SharePlay; a feature that should make it easier to share content live with your friends and family.

With SharePlay, for example, users can watch a movie or listen to music together, without being in the same room together. The function is similar to Teleparty; a tool for Google Chrome that allows users to stream the same movie at the same time.

Apple has confirmed that SharePlay will not be delayed again. The feature is therefore available in the next major iOS 15 update. Beta testers will soon be able to test the software – the iOS 15.1 beta is currently only available to app developers. It is unknown when iOS 15.1 will be available to everyone.

More about iOS 15

With iOS 15, Apple is releasing the major iOS update for 2021. The new software introduces a number of significant innovations. For example, FaceTime now works a lot better. The quality of video calls is improving and you can now (finally) FaceTime with Android and Windows users.

Also new: Focus. This feature helps you to bundle incoming notifications, so that (not so important) push notifications are not disturbed too often. In addition, iOS 15 implements various privacy improvements and iCloud gets a handy VPN function. Read more? Check out our overview with cool iOS 15 functions.
