Samsung December Patch

Samsung has shared information about the December security update, which has already been rolled out to multiple devices in recent times. December 2020 security update was officially released by Google early this week. It became clear that the patch itself addresses 46 vulnerabilities. Samsung has done 9 more fixes on top of that.

Various solutions have been implemented. A leak has been found, whereby the default calling app (dialer) could be adjusted without user intervention. This could happen under certain circumstances on devices with Android 8, 9 and 10. This should not have had a major impact, Samsung reports in the overview, which describes the seriousness as moderate. Furthermore, some minor vulnerabilities have been found in some devices with an Exynos chipset, a leak in the UI that could allow unauthorized processes to access contact information, and some minor optimizations. There are no major leaks, it becomes clear.

Samsung will update even more devices in the near future with the new December patch. If you receive the update, please let us know by sending an email, along with a screenshot. Yesterday, the Dutch data for the rollout of Android 11 was also announced.
