Old bands don’t fit Apple Watch Series 7

According to the latest rumors, it is almost certain that the Apple Watch Series 7 will get a new design. But will the straps of your old Apple Watch still fit? The latest rumors are contradictory, but we secretly think so.

Read on after the ad.

Old bands on Apple Watch Series 7

According to Max Weinbach on Twitter, the old straps don’t fit the new Watch. An Apple Store employee told him that 40/44 bands were no longer being shipped. Therefore, the old bands are not expected to fit on the new Apple Watch Series 7.

Mark Gurman responded promptly to the tweet. It states that this does not have to mean that the bands for the Apple Watch are not compatible. He did confirm that the stock of 40/44 bands in the Apple Stores has dwindled considerably.

A new look doesn’t necessarily mean the straps don’t fit. After all, it is not the first time that Apple has released a new design for the Watch. From the Apple Watch 4, the watch got a rounder shape and the watch had slightly different dimensions. However, the Series 4 watch bands were fine to use on the older Apple Watch.

Braided Solo Straps

Apple states that specific bands (such as the braided solo band) are “only suitable for Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 or newer.” The straps only fit the chosen case size and not any other case size’.

Nevertheless, they can be used on, for example, an Apple Watch Series 3. Sometimes you see that they do not fit perfectly, but they are certainly compatible. In addition, Apple will most likely still make bands for the Apple Watch SE. And the design will probably remain the same.

Are you sure your old straps will fit? Just a little patience

To know for sure, you have to wait a little longer until the Apple Watch Series 7 is actually available. Apple may be holding three different events in September, and we expect to see the Apple Watch Series 7 at the iPhone 13 event. The exact date is not yet known.

In the corridors there is talk of 14 September. So keep an eye on our website for the latest news. We can of course also be followed via the newsletter or the (free) iPhoned app.
