According to the certification, the two cell phones do not mind if they are “permanently” under water. The “X” suggests, however, that it is no special protection against dust or other foreign bodies. The two smartphones are much better protected at a pool than at the beach.

Samsung may have the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 too only examine for water resistance and get certified. A lack of official resistance to dust does not mean that the cell phones automatically perform worse in this area.
