PS4 controller flashing white – How to fix it

You won’t see the PS4 controller flashing white so often, because it is not something that the controller suppose to be doing. It usually flashes white only when the controller failed to connect to the console or when its battery is about to drain. There are several simple things you can do to get rid of the issue, and all of them are listed below. Let’s dive into it.

PS4 controller flashing white – Ways to fix it

Here are the things you can try:

Reset your PS4 controller

First, try resetting your PS4 controller. Follow the steps below:

  • Find the reset button on the back of the controller
  • You can use a SIM card opener or a paper clip to push the button
  • When you press the button using the proper tool, keep holding it for 5 seconds
  • Plug the charging cable into the PS4 then plug it into the controller as well
  • Press the PlayStation button on the controller

The next thing that can fix the issue is resetting your PS4 console. Do the following:

  • Hold the Power off button for about 10 seconds to turn off your PS4
  • Next, remove the power cord and wait for a couple of minutes
  • Put the cord back in
  • Turn on your PS4
  • Plug the charging cable into the PS4 then plug it into the controller as well
  • As the last step, press the PlayStation button on the controller

Start the console in the Safe mode and then connect your controller

Try this step only if the USB ports on the console are working right, if they don’t, skip this step. Here is what you need to do:

  • Turn off your PS4 console
  • When the console is off, press and hold the power button and keep holding it until you hear two beeps
  • Next, connect your controller using the USB cable
  • As the last step, press the PlayStation button on the controller

Get a new USB cable

If your USB cable is broken or damaged, it is time for a replacement. If you have another USB cable, plug it into the PS4, then plug it into the controller.
