Practically impossible to fix your broken iPhone 13 screen

Due to a new technique, it is almost impossible to repair the broken screen of your iPhone 13.

The iPhone 13 is a beautifully designed smartphone. Dropping the device doesn’t help, of course. A crack or a completely broken screen is of course terrible. Also because the price tag of the device is not small. However, it gets even harder to get the screen made.

Fix broken screen iPhone 13

Look, if you’re still under warranty, go to an Apple Store. But if it is not covered by the warranty, or the warranty has expired, you will go faster to another repair company. That could be annoying, reports the site iFixit. Having your screen replaced by a party other than Apple has become virtually impossible. This is because Face ID no longer works after that. And many people swear by that feature.

Of course, this has major implications for the repair industry. A lot of repairs concern the sensitive screen. If this disappears, they will have considerably less work.

It’s because of a new chip. This provides a unique link between the device and the serial number of the screen. And yes, if that screen is no longer there, then there is a problem. Because then the link is no longer correct, and Face ID no longer works. Sure, this can be made. But with Apple or an authorized partner. They are almost always very pricey. According to iFixit, the measure is ‘unprecedented’.

This is because such a repair is not that difficult, but Apple makes it impossible anyway. The company has installed a minicontroller chip under the screen. Authorized Apple Services Providers can still make it, because they do have special Apple software. There is, however, a ‘workaround’, whereby the chip must be removed from the original screen and placed on the new screen. You can, but it makes the repair much more expensive.
