WhatsApp has been around for 12 years: has growth stopped?
WhatsApp has announced that more than two billion people actively use WhatsApp. But the app no longer rises as fast as before. What is going on?

WhatsApp has not started the year 2021 very well. That started with the new terms and conditions, and this month WhatsApp indicated that they should have approached it all differently. In addition, users get a little more time, but if you do not agree, WhatsApp will stop working from 15 May. For non-EU users, however, there is not really anything going to change about these conditions, where there is so much to do about.
WhatsApp now says on social media that it now has more than two billion users. Last year, WhatsApp said it has welcomed its two billionth user. With this notes Tweakers Note that it is the first time that WhatsApp has reported a number of users that is no higher than last time. Together, more than 100 billion messages are sent and every day a billion calls are made to each other via WhatsApp, the messaging service proudly states. This brings the number of messages per person per day to an average of 50.
So it seems that the growth is less than before. Previously, research showed that 95 percent of the Dutch have WhatsApp installed on their smartphone. So here in the Netherlands there seems to be hardly any room for further growth; because it is already on the ceiling.
