Only the most expensive iPhone 15 gets this brilliant new camera
Everyone is still talking about the iPhone 14, but secretly there are already more and more rumors about the iPhone 15. According to the latest rumor, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will get a brilliant new camera. This is what you need to know.

iPhone 15 Pro with periscope camera
We have been hearing for some time that the major new feature of the iPhone 15 (that is, next year’s), will be a periscope camera. A periscope camera? Like in a submarine? Well, not quite. Let’s explain.
What strikes you when you look at the iPhone’s cameras from recent years? Right, they keep getting bigger and fatter. That makes the photos better, thanks to larger lenses and sensors, but it also makes your iPhone a lot more clunky. With a periscope lens, that is a thing of the past. Because the ‘periscope’ part is on the inside of the iPhone. This allows the parts to become larger, without increasing the dimensions of the phone. This also makes a larger optical zoom possible.
In short: the camera of the iPhone 15 is going to be really cool. Only now we hear from Ming-Chi Kuo that only the most expensive model, the 15 Pro Max, will get that periscope camera.
Kuo’s expectation about periscope camera
Kuo expect the iPhone 15 Pro Max to be the only iPhone model with a periscope camera next year. He thinks the iPhone 15 Pro will keep a ‘regular’ optical zoom telephoto lens. The analyst further says that the 1/3-inch sensor of the 15 Pro Max will have a 12-megapixel resolution with f/2.8 aperture, sensor-shift stabilization and up to 6x optical zoom. Another year later – according to Kuo – in 2024, both Pro models will get a periscope camera.
So if the rumors are true, Apple will again make a bigger distinction between the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max next year – at least on a camera level. This is not special at all, by the way. In the era of the ‘Plus’ iPhones, it was quite normal, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max also had a slightly better camera than the 12 Pro.
