Nothing sells almost one million products, is this a lot?

Nothing has shared some sales figures in a press release and in a conversation with Androidworld. To date, the company has sold nearly one million products. This concerns the sale of the Nothing Ear (1) earphones and the Nothing Phone (1). What else do we know? And how many times has the Phone (1) been sold?

Nearly one million

In a press release, Nothing states that it has sold almost one million products. Carl Pei has this to say in this post: “As we are on the cusp of surpassing one million sold worldwide, I can’t wait to get our hands on our third product, Ear (stick). The product offers comfort while delivering our most advanced sound experience to date. The special design of the case is inspired by the shape of a lipstick and has a unique, yet functional twist opening.

Among the one million products Carl Pei talks about are the Nothing Ear (1) and the Nothing Phone (1). These are the earbuds and the smartphone of the brand. The new Ear (stick) are of course not part of this yet. In a conversation with Androidworld, the company also indicated that the Nothing Phone (1) has currently been sold about 500,000 times. This concerns worldwide sales, excluding America. Nothing could not yet indicate how many smartphones it had sold in the Netherlands, but the company does indicate that the Netherlands is one of the best markets of the brand in this area. Japan and homeland England were also mentioned. Nothing indicated that they will share the sales figures of the Netherlands with us.

Is it a lot?

Now numbers don’t say much if you don’t have them. That is why we now mention the sales figures of Sony and Samsung here to compare. Mind you, these are smartphone manufacturers that have been on the market for some time and that sell several smartphones. It concerns sales figures for a whole year, the Nothing Phone (1) has been on the market for about six months.

If we first look at Sony, this Japanese manufacturer currently sells about three million smartphones per year. This gives the company a market share of less than one percent. Samsung, the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, sold about 270 million smartphones last year. With the 500,000 smartphones that Nothing has sold worldwide, the company currently has a nil market share. On the one hand, this is not surprising, Nothing has been around for very long and the Phone (1) is the manufacturer’s first smartphone.

The Nothing Phone (1) was announced with much fanfare in May this year. The most striking thing about the smartphone is the partly transparent back with more than 300 lights. In addition, the device is characterized by a clean Android experience, a luxurious design and a very good overall user experience. You can read more about it in the review.
