Nokia 1.3 receives an update to Android 11

Owners of a cheap smartphone Nokia 1.3 waiting for its update with the system Android 11 for almost a year, and some may have stopped hoping for her arrival. According to the portal GSMArena however, it is finally the manufacturer HMD Global released in the first wave for selected regions.

The system is again in the Android Go version

Nokia 1.3 is a basic model, which due to low memory and chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 belongs to the so-called Android Go smartphones. This means that the operating system is in a lightweight Android Go version, and the same goes for the new Android 11. The update to Android 11 Go should run in two waves.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not specify to which wave each country belongs. Australia is definitely in the first wave of updates and was launched today, July 24th. The launch of the second wave should be announced by the manufacturer in the coming days. Android 11 Go will bring Nokia 1.3, for example, new notifications with foreground conversations, chat bubbles or one-time permissions for applications.

The update is available as an OTA update, so the system should notify you automatically when it is available. You can also verify it manually in Android settings. For safety, you should make sure that your smartphone battery is at least 70% charged before you install it.

How’s Xiaomi’s competition?

Samsung, the South Korean company, is currently the most active in the updates. Over the last month, it has updated the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20 FE 5G and Galaxy A52 5G smartphones. The Honor 9x and 9X Pro smartphones recently received a May security update. Motorola recently introduced Android 11 for the Motorola moto g 5G plus and Motorola razr 5G models.

There was also a young brand Realme, which updated to the latest version of the system smartphones Realme 6 Pro and 7 Pro. Another Chinese company, Huawei, began distributing the April security patch for Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro + and Huawei Mate 40 Porsche Design smartphones.
