Nintendo has introduced its premium Vortex subscription

Nintendo has clarified the design and operation of its new premium premium subscription. The so-called Expansion Pack for Nintendo Switch Online adds additional benefits beyond the five features available in the standard service. Only thanks to it you get access to games from Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive consoles as well as DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Until now, five benefits have been an integral part of Nintendo Swich Online: online gaming itself, retro games from NES and SNES consoles, backup of stored positions to the cloud, support for a special application including voice chat and a special offer. As part of the new subscription level, Nintendo attracts Z N64 titles, which boast higher resolution, online multiplayer, modern storage or the ability to help each other with a friend. You can expect similar comfort features with Mega Drive games. And if you don’t succeed, you can rewind the game a bit and repeat a challenging passage.

For retro games and a retro controller?

Of course, the titles you can look forward to are important. Already Nintendo attracts Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, Mario Tennis, Super Mario 64, Dr. Mario 64, Yoshi’s Story and others. Sega is preparing games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Golden Ax, Strider or Contra: Hard Corps. You can find a complete list and more details on the official Nintendo website.

In the case of both consoles, the library of available titles will gradually grow, similar to the NES and SNES, although players have been complaining for some time that Nintendo avoids some of the key issues and instead serves games that do not always belong to the mentioned classics. . But the basic offer looks good. Old-new drivers inspired by gamepads from the N64 and Mega Drive consoles can also potentially be suitable for these new retro titles. Each will sell separately for $ 50.

Nintendo gets paid for the classics

The new subscription will be available from October 25, but is already facing some criticism. Not everyone is enthusiastic about the offer or its price. A basic Nintendo Switch Online costs $ 4 per month, $ 8 per quarter or $ 20 per year. You pay $ 50 a year for Switch Online + the new Expansion Pack. At least that is the price of an individual subscription. But it’s definitely worth considering a so-called family membership for up to 8 accounts, which will cost you $ 35 a year, or $ 80 a year with the Expansion Pass.

Unfortunately, we do not yet know the official Czech prices of the Expansion Pack. A normal subscription costs 99 crowns per month, 199 crowns per quarter and 499 crowns per year. For a family you pay 875 crowns a year. Existing subscribers can, of course, upgrade.
