Guillermo del Toro does not -apkrig on the new Silent Hill

If you watched this year’s The Game Awards, you probably didn’t miss the fact that Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro performed during the gala evening. As you no doubt know, he was to participate with the Japanese designer Hide Kojima in the canceled Silent Hills and also appeared in his later game Death Stranding. At the TGA del Toro, he announced the award for the best art page. And on that occasion, he seemed to mention, by the way, that one of the series he admires in this regard is Silent Hill. “I hope to see a new one,” he said.

This in itself gave fans reason to speculate that he certainly knew something and was involved in the project again. It makes no sense at this point to recapitulate all the speculation on the account of an alleged soft reboot or continuation from the Bloober Team in a few months. You will find everything essential in our archive. More importantly, del Toro did not take any napkins after the abolition of Silent Hills, and Konami clearly blamed the failure on the publisher’s fault and idiotic decision.

If you were hoping that the famous director at The Game Awards described above lured you to another game, we must disappoint you. He has now stated in the podcast Happy Sad Confused that this is not the case. And again, he was angry that the abolition of Silent Hills made no sense, that it was a perfect match, and that they were doing something breathtaking. However, it did not dull his interest in the games, on the contrary. He is fascinated by the way he tells the story.

Guillermo del Toro also found that this was not his only failure in the field of video games. Prior to Silent Hills, he worked with the studio Volition (Saints Row, Red Faction) on the survival horror film Insane, which was to be released by THQ in 2013. But it was also canceled. The game was announced at the Spike Video Game Awards in 2010 and was to be the first part of a planned trilogy.

We had a half-minute teaser and del Toro was tempted to take the player to a whole new place, where each action makes them question their own sanity, morality and reality. However, the title was canceled in 2012.

The fact that del Toro does not make a new Silent Hill does not mean that it does not arise. On the contrary, according to many different sources, this is almost certain. The question is when will we see him…
