Meta: plush animatronics find a taste for life thanks to the Metavers

The communication of Meta took a turn a bit “cringe” with his latest commercial for the super-bowl. We indeed see a group of stuffed animatronics put back in the closet (or even in the dumpster) after a period of success playing as members of a rock band. The big animatronic dog is about to end up minced when a good soul decides to get him back… to make him the welcome mascot for the premises of a large company! It’s a sad end, we believe, but one of the company’s employees then takes the strange initiative of dressing up the mascot with a Meta Quest 2 helmet. And therein lies the miracle: our dog animatronic finds his companions in misfortune in the Metaverse (Horizon Worlds)!

This is all well and good, but what will happen when the employee picks up his helmet at the start of his working day? Involuntarily no doubt, this ad presses where it hurts: VR may help to break the barrier of isolation, but it will necessarily only be for a moment, and the lone individual will indeed remain alone in the end. , VR headset or not. Finally, we note that at the very end of the spot, Meta recalls the free VR concert that the Foo Fighters will give just after the Super Bowl final this Sunday February 13 (here February 14 at 5 a.m. with the time difference).
