Google Wallet with smartwatch problems

Google Wallet is Google’s new application to replace Google Pay. The old Pay app is slowly but surely making way for the new Wallet app, but this doesn’t seem to run smoothly. DroidApp reader Han reports to us with the problems, which don’t seem to be just him. Complaints about the Google Wallet app are raining in the Google Play Store.

Since the transition to Google Wallet, users are no longer able to add a payment card to the watch. This is so annoying for various users, because they have purchased a smartwatch especially for contactless payment in this way. Han emphasizes that Google Pay continued to work after the update, but the Google Wallet app threw a spanner in the works with a new smartwatch. In addition, when adding a new card in the Google Wallet app on the watch, users will receive a ‘phone not suitable’. Resetting or reinstalling may not help and will not resolve the issue.

The issue affects the app on several smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 4 and also the new Galaxy Watch 5 models. These are the most used Wear OS smartwatches, which is why most of the problems are related to them. Google has not yet responded to the messages and it is also unclear how long a solution will take. Han says that paying via Google Wallet with the smartphone still works.
