It took a while, but hackers managed to release a jailbreak for iOS 16 (and 15). Read here on which devices the jailbreak is available!

iOS 16 harder to hack

Apple has been focusing more on the security of the devices and the operating system for a long time, so security updates are regularly released. This is also noticeable in (the lack of) the jailbreaks: it took hackers a long time this time before a jailbreak was released.

Now it has finally succeeded and the jailbreak will not only be available for iOS 15, but also immediately for iOS 16. The palera1n team has released a jailbreak that is available for iOS 15.0 through iOS 16.2. Whether the jailbreak also works with the new iOS 16.3 beta is unknown.

Jailbreak on iOS: you can do this with it

With the new jailbreak for iOS 15 and 16 you can set up your iPhone the way you want. After all, the iPhone is famous and notorious for the way in which everything on the device is boarded up. As a user – especially with iOS 16 – you already have a lot more freedom in setting up your phone, but it remains limited to Apple’s offerings.

With a jailbreak, the possibilities for your phone are much more extensive. You can put apps on your iPhone that can’t be found in the App Store, download new themes and further personalize your phone. But beware: Apple does not allow jailbreaking. Jailbreaking your iPhone will automatically void your warranty.

The jailbreak works on these Apple devices

So the jailbreak is available for iOS 15 and 16, but only on a limited number of devices. The jailbreak is available on the iPhone 8 (Plus), the iPhone X, the iPad 5, iPad 6, iPad 7 and the iPad Pro (first and second generation). The jailbreak cannot therefore be installed on the latest Apple devices. That’s because they have a different chip.

You need a Linux or a Mac to download the jailbreak. The installation process is quite tricky and mainly aimed at developers and experts. Since the jailbreak is still relatively new, few apps and other modifications are available for the jailbreak. We do not recommend downloading and installing the jailbreak anyway.
