iPhone 14 Plus sales lower than expected

The iPhone 14 Plus, on the left, is slightly larger than the iPhone 14.

The sales of the iPhone 14 Plus, the big brother of the base model, appear to be disappointing. This is evident from sales figures from Apple.

Apple has released the iPhone 14 in four versions. In addition to the base model, those are the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Where the two Pro versions do quite well, the sales of the base model and – especially – of the Plus are rather disappointing.

Small difference between iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Plus makes buyers less eager

And that is quite logical to be earlier. Because in fact, there is little difference between the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14, as far as the base model is concerned. For example, both have the same processor. The iPhone 14 Plus has only one major advantage over the iPhone 13, or the iPhone 14 base model, the larger screen. But apparently that large screen is not enough to convince buyers of a new iPhone.

Small price difference, big quality difference

In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, for example, have a new processor and much better cameras. That explains that buyers who choose his new iPhone, choose one of the two Pro models, even if they cost a few hundred euros more. In the case of the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro, the latter costs just $100 more, prompting consumers to opt for the slightly more expensive, but much better, model.

Apple drastically reduces production of the iPhone 14 Plus

Observers report that Foxconn, the major factory in China that makes Apple phones, has slashed production of iPhone 14 Plus devices just two weeks after launch. This would have everything to do with the dramatically poor sales of the iPhone 14 Plus. Still, insiders say, Apple still believes in the concept of a bigger phone. In all likelihood, there will also be an iPhone 15 Plus.
