iOS 16 beta 3: these are the new features

Another new beta of iOS 16 has been released and this time it contains a number of new features. Unfortunately, this beta is still not available to the general public and only developers can use it at this time. Don’t worry, because we already tell you what’s new.

1. Shared iCloud Photo Library

Apple had already shown this feature at WWDC 2022, but not all parts were available yet. In the third beta, Apple has now expanded the feature. With the shared iCloud library, you can invite up to five friends or family members to share photos. Anyone can add, delete and edit photos.

2. Isolation Mode available in beta 3 of iOS 16

A new feature in iOS 16 is isolation mode (lockdown mode). This feature is turned off by default, but can be found under ‘Settings > Privacy & Security > Isolation Mode’. The feature is designed to protect you from a cyber attack. As a normal user, you often do not have to be afraid of that, and that is why this function is only important for politicians, for example.

If you turn on isolation mode, many functions on the iPhone will be disabled. For example, FaceTime calls from strangers and certain parts of websites are blocked.

3. Lockscreen has new fonts

One of the biggest changes in iOS 16 is the lockscreen changes. For example, you can now place widgets on the lock screen and the clock has a new look. In beta 3 of iOS 16, the lockscreen has received a number of new fonts. This will give you even more options to adjust the screen to your liking.

And some other small changes…

There are also some minor changes. In beta 3 of iOS 16, it is now possible to view atrial fibrillation history (arrhythmia). This feature is currently only available in America. In addition, the calendar widget no longer shows the details of your next appointment if your iPhone is still locked.

Reminders gets new feature in beta 3 of iOS 16

Furthermore, the Reminders app has a new option in the settings called ‘include Due Today’. Among other things, this function also shows reminders whose date has already expired. It is striking that this function is still in English.

Widgets no longer block Earth’s wallpaper

The background of the Earth is no longer blocked by the widgets. When you have widgets on your lockscreen in beta 3 of iOS 16, the globe slides down slightly.

An old friend returns

And… the clownfish wallpaper is back, but only for some users. Not everyone gets to see this background. The wallpaper is an old acquaintance and was used by Steve Jobs during the introduction of the iPhone in 2007.
