Apple’s iOS 16 comes with improvements to messages, lock screen, and much more. Read about it here.

As we all know, yesterday was Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2022. It started as usual, detailing the next operating system upgrade. It will debut this fall after spending the summer in beta testing. The system comes with more personalization options, an improved lock screen with widgets, and some welcome updates to Messages.

Apple iOS 16 improvements

We lock your smartphone many times a day. That is why it is central to the operating system update. Starting with the ability to customize fonts and colors used. It is possible to add widgets and configure multiple lock screens that you can switch between by swiping the screen. The wallpapers that you get from Apple as standard will also get a makeover. This with animated and Pride theme choices.

The notifications will also appear differently on your lock screen. Instead of piling up across the screen, they “roll in” at the bottom of the screen. There’s also a “live activities” feature to show notifications associated with an event, such as an Uber ride or sporting event, on a single tile.

Messages

We’re ticking off a bit these days. That’s why Apple specifically emphasizes this and tries to make chatting easier for us. iOS 16 adds the ability to edit typos in sent messages, retrieve messages you didn’t intend to send, and the ability to mark a message thread as unread so you can go back to it later.

Apple is also adding iCloud Shared Photo Libraries to make it easier to share certain photos with family and friends accounts. Up to six users can access a shared library. Photos include sharing suggestions and image edits and keywords are synced for all users. iOS 16 will be available this fall.
