Google Chrome 110 is available: the list of new features

Google is making the stable version of Chrome 110 available for download and there are a few new things offered with this update. This is the opportunity to discover them.

Before discussing the new features, it is worth noting that this version requires Windows 10 at least. Indeed, version 109 was the last to support Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Users who still have these operating systems are no longer entitled to updates, either for the operating system or the browser from Google. They can still use the browser, but they won’t get the new features or security patches.

Regarding what’s new, Chrome 110 adds support for RTX Video Super Resolution, an Nvidia feature that concerns users with an RTX 3000 or RTX 4000 graphics card. If this is your case, you can watch a video on YouTube or Netflix by 1080p and discover it in 2160p/4K thanks to an upscaling. This system requires a new driver to support it and must also be enabled in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

The update is also the opportunity to have improvements for the Google Translate controls at the level of the browser settings to choose which languages to translate/not to translate and to define a default language.

On the other hand, there is a little more control for the “Enhanced protection” function with regard to safe browsing (Safe Browsing). Finally, it becomes possible to use biometrics (like the fingerprint sensor) to confirm your identity before accessing the password manager.
