Cyberpunk 2077 for mobile? It has one catch
Scammers continue to try to make the most of the popularity of Cyberpunk 2077. The latest mobile application has appeared on the Internet, promising to be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on your Android device as well. However, it contained only ransomware, the Bleeping Computer portal informed.

Kaspersky researcher Tatyana Shishkova warned of the threat. She shared screenshots on Twitter that show what the app looks like and what happens after it’s installed. The app is called “Cyberpunk 2077 Mobile (Beta)” and could be downloaded from a site that looked almost like a Google Play store. The site even displayed fake user reviews.
What happens when you install the application
The application first asks for permission to read your files, and then you see a message telling you that you have fallen victim to a ransomware called CoderWare. The message goes on to say that your files have been encrypted and needs a password to unlock them. You only get this after paying $ 500 in Bitcoins to the account listed below in the report. Failure to do so will delete your files.
In the next twet, Shishkova states that the ransomware has a password for decrypting data built right into the code, which means that files can be decrypted for free.
This is not the first time fraudsters have tried to exploit Cyberpunk 2077
This hardware is the same as the one discovered by the Malware Hunter Team in November. The hardware was disguised as the installer of Cyberpunk 2077 for Windows. Like the fake Android application, this installer included a hardware called CoderWare. However, it is not known whether the file decryption key was included in the code as in the Android application.
Cyberpunk 2077 for mobile also exists without viruses
There is a way you can play Cyberpunk 2077 on your phone. However, it will not be free. The Google Stadium streaming game service offers, among other games, the ability to play Cyberpunk 2077 not only on your phone, but on any compatible device.
