cryptominers continue to drain GPU stocks

Not all are obviously suffering from the GPU shortage that is currently impacting gamers around the world, as shown in a new video shared by Cryptominers, a store in Bahrain.

Cryptominers is a store specializing in the sale of ASICs and mining Rigs, and it is obviously not experiencing the crisis. As videos of the store on Instagram reveal, it has an impressive stock of AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPUs from various manufacturers like Sapphire, PowerColor and XFX, which could make any gamer drool eagerly awaiting the return of some models to stock.

The store also offers Radeon RX 580 graphics cards, NVIDIA GeForce GTXs and even RTX 3000s. these cards will unfortunately not be sold to players, but rather to minors, in particular for the construction of platforms allowing the mining of cryptocurrencies. This high demand inevitably caused prices to explode since it is much higher than the stocks available., much to the chagrin of the players.

The shortage of graphics cards is not about to end

Cryptocurrency miners are a bane for gamers, as mining farms’ appetite for GPUs has only increased this year due to the explosion in the price of some cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, which yesterday crossed the 3,200 euros mark. Indeed, we recently learned that cryptocurrency miners had purchased 700,000 graphics cards in the first quarter of 2021, or 25% of global production.

However, some manufacturers like NVIDIA had taken steps to limit the performance of certain cards for mining like the RTX 3060, but that was clearly not enough to limit the shortage. The latest NVIDIA GPUs are indeed equipped with an LHR hash limiter. and therefore can not be exploited at full power for mining, but faced with the shortage of Radeon cards, some miners are also sweeping the stocks of the competition.

According to NVIDIA, the shortage is not about to end, since the RTX 3000 should remain out of stock in 2022. Difficulties in sourcing components, especially semiconductors, will therefore continue well next year.
