A “serious cyberattack” affects Nexeya, a French electronics specialist

Nexeya, a French specialist in electronic equipment for industry (particularly aeronautics and defence), is the victim of a “serious cyberattack” leading to a data leak ” considerable “, announced its German parent company Hensoldt.

“Nexeya has been the target of a serious cyberattack on its IT infrastructure in recent days”, explains Hensoldt in a press release. Nexeya’s two data centers in France were affected. The German group specifies that a large volume of data was probably stolen and that the systems were encrypted. We are therefore visibly on a ransomware-type attack, but there is no precise confirmation on the subject.

In the case of a ransomware-type attack, the hacker encrypts his victim’s data and demands a ransom to provide the decryption keys.

Nexeya and Hendoldt are working with authorities to establish the origin and scale of the attack, while attempting to restore operations at the French subsidiary as quickly as possible.

Nexeya specializes in electronics and supplies several companies, including aeronautics and defence. The Hensoldt group, a former subsidiary of Airbus, presents itself as the leading European electronics group for the defense sector and manufactures components such as sensors or radars dedicated to critical missions. In particular, it is working on a radar capable of detecting stealth aircraft, delivering sensors for the new Eurofighters and should participate in the European combat aircraft program of the future (SCAF, FCAS in English).
