Google will stop using call recording apps in the Play Store from May
From May 11, Google will stop using applications that could record telephone conversations. This follows a change to the Google Play Store policy that will be implemented.
No call recording apps
Applications that can record phone calls have been addressed by Google for a long time. The official API was removed with Android 6 Marshmallow, with Android 9 Pie restrictions were imposed on access to the phone audio. In the time that followed, applications could still gain access to this through other means, but that will change.
As of May 11, developers who want to distribute applications through the Google Play Store will no longer be able to access the Accessibility API for call recording. For other things, such as for applications designed for people with disabilities, this API may still be used.
It’s not entirely clear what Google is doing with the apps that have all this access. Apps in their current form are probably not affected by this limitation, although it seems logical that Google also imposes the restrictions on future updates.
