DigiTimes: iPhone 13 has WiFi 6e
The message was brought to the world by DigiTimes. The Taiwanese website writes to have sources who are aware of the new Apple phone. They believe that the iPhone 13 will receive support for WiFi 6e, an extension of the existing WiFi 6.
The advantages of the newer technology are obvious. With WiFi 6e you can surf the internet faster indoors. The stability and range of the signal should also improve. WiFi 6e does that by adding a new bandwidth: 6GHz. You will probably need to purchase a new router to use this. Most routers only support 2.4 and 5GHz.
DigiTimes is usually a questionable source when it comes to new Apple products. The website is sometimes right, but it is also often wrong. Therefore, take a chance.
We do think that the rumor may just be true. In 2019, Apple released the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, all of which could work with Wi-Fi 6. The iPhone 12 series, which came out last year, can of course also do this.
By the way, don’t expect too much from WiFi 6e. The new technology is an improvement over Wi-Fi 6, but not a revolution. For example, the step from WiFi 5 to WiFi 6 was much bigger.
iPhone 13 coming this fall
We expect the iPhone 13 in September. The successor of the iPhone 12 seems to get a better screen, to keep about the same design and again come in four models. Also the price doesn’t seem to change much. In the video below we go through all the iPhone 13 rumors with you.
