‘Foldable iPad is coming in 2024’ (forget the foldable iPhone)

A foldable iPhone may never come. But Samsung does think that Apple will introduce a foldable iPad in 2024.

Read on after the ad.

Foldable iPad coming in 2024

There are already several foldable smartphones for sale. One of them is the Samsung Galaxy X Flip. However, Apple still hasn’t announced a foldable iPhone.

According to various rumors, that is about to change. At a recent meeting, Samsung said they expect Apple to announce its first foldable device in two years.

Remarkably enough, this foldable will not be a foldable iPhone. Samsung thinks that Apple will first come with a foldable iPad or MacBook. Other rumors seem to back this up.

CCS Insight (a market research firm) says that it entails quite a few financial risks to now release a foldable iPhone. The required hardware is currently available on a limited basis and also quite expensive. The company also thinks it is more likely that Apple will first incorporate this technology in a new iPad.

Foldable smartphones are becoming increasingly popular

In the Samsung meeting, it was also said that the market of foldable smartphones will increase by 80 percent by 2025. Samsung also said that 90 percent of foldable smartphone owners will again buy a foldable device.

That is why it might also be smart for Apple to wait a little longer to come up with a foldable iPad. It is not known how much a foldable device from Apple would cost. But according to rumors, you should expect a price of about 2500 dollars.

Disadvantages of foldable smartphones

Foldable smartphones currently also have some drawbacks. The biggest drawback of the current generation of folding phones is the disappointing durability. The foldable ‘glass’ is in most cases not real glass and scratches very quickly. You should also put little pressure on folding screens, because then they can get dents.
