4 handy gadgets of tomorrow that you can order now (week 24)

The greatest technological innovations do not come from ‘big tech’ companies, but from smaller start-ups chasing their dreams. Thanks to crowdfunding sites, you will be the first to get your hands on the best new products. We found four cool gadgets for you: from an origami lamp to a buddy for your Minoes.

4 coolest gadgets

Not everyone is already familiar with the principle of crowdfunding, and that is also normal. It’s still a relatively new concept, but one that can help creative people make a difference. You first support a great idea for a product and then you can follow the progress until the package arrives at your door. These are the four coolest gadgets on crowdfunding websites.

1. O Sitter – a robot sitter for your cat

For who is it?

Cat people.

What is it?

Do you work long hours at the office and feel a little guilty about your furry friend(s) at home? If you are a cat owner, you can now get help. Of course nothing is as good – and essential – as a human’s attention, but for a few hours a day you can put the O Sitter to work. It monitors your cat’s well-being and can even make videos and send them to you when there’s activity (cats still sleep most of the day, so the cat sitter isn’t too busy). This way you can also ensure that your cat becomes instafamous sooner. Among other things, the robot is equipped with a laser to play with your cat, so it’s not just a snooper.

  • O Sitter – Kickstarter – 91 euros including shipping – August 2023

2. LINKA LASSO – a smart lock for your bicycle, electric scooter or scooter

For who is it?

People looking for a smart way to lock their belongings.

What is it?

Chain locks are not often smart, but they can be equipped with, for example, a very loud alarm. LINKA LASSO takes a different approach, because that is a smart chain lock. It works with an app on your phone that lets you use it to gain access instead of having to remember numbers or keep keys. It’s a robust, sturdy thing that you could even secure your bike with and that could be interesting now that we’re hearing more and more about bikes being stolen in seconds.

  • LINKA LASSO smart lock – Kickstarter – 109 euros excl. shipping – expected in July 2023

3. MEGAPUFF folding lamp and power bank – a sidekick for those evenings in the park

For who is it?

Anyone who wants to stay outside for drinks, chilling and maybe even sports as long as possible this summer.

What is it?

MEGAPUFF sounds like it’s a new brand of marshmallows, but it’s a foldable lamp that doubles as a power bank. There are different sizes available, but because you can easily flatten the lamp, a large one is probably not that bad. You can also immediately charge your phone, or your Bluetooth speaker, so that you can enjoy music, social media or Androidworld outside for an extra long time. Plus: it even has special light that keeps the mosquitoes away. What a dream device.

  • MEGAPUFF – Kickstarter – 38 euros excl. shipping – expected in August 2023

4. Philips x Kokoon AI sleep headphones – headphones to help you rest

For who is it?

Anyone who has trouble falling asleep.

What is it?

Philips is working with Kokoon on an AI sleep headset. The device is intended both to get you to sleep and to keep you asleep. They are earplugs that ensure that noise around you becomes silence and you can use it in combination with audio books to lull yourself to sleep, among other things. The AI sleep coach also provides you with tips for a better night’s sleep.

  • Philips x Kokoon AI sleep headphones – Kickstarter – 164 euros excl. shipping – expected in October 2023

Think of this with crowdfunding

Keep in mind that crowdfunding is always primarily supporting an idea, with no real guarantee that the actual product will meet your expectations. So choose the projects and start-ups that you really believe in and follow the regular development and shipping updates that the start-ups communicate. Supporting projects through crowdfunding is therefore not the same as shopping.

Is there something for you? Or did you back another Kickstarter project this week? Leave it now in the comments.
