2022 will be the year of folding smartphones

Perhaps the most important manufacturer of folding smartphones is clearly the South Korean giant Samsung. This manufacturer sells two model lines of folding phones. It’s about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. The SamMobile web portal claims that the company wants to continue the trend of producing similar “puzzles”.

The number of folding smartphone manufacturers could increase next year

Samsung wants to double sales of folding devices next year. This means that his competition will have to try harder. The year 2022 could therefore be the year of the entry of higher-quality flexible smartphones on the market. For next year, the South Korean company is expected to produce up to 18 million pieces of folding OLED panels. This is more than double the 8.1 million units to be delivered by the end of the current year.

Samsung’s lines should expand their capacities to meet the requirements for the production of flexible telephones. The increase in production capacity will allow Samsung to supply panels to other manufacturers. This means further profit for the South Korean giant, but at the same time other brands can start with higher production of folding models. In any case, next year could be a little more interesting from a technological point of view. We can definitely look forward to the introduction of successors for Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3.
