YouTube makes it easier to continue watching videos between devices
YouTube has been receiving an update these days that will allow you to easily continue playing your video on your computer if you’ve started watching it on your mobile app. The 9to5Google portal informs about the news.
The YouTube web mini player has received new uses
The watched video will appear in the web version of the service in the mini player located in the lower right corner of the screen. This player was previously available on the service, offering the ability to minimize the video being played and continue watching it while browsing the YouTube homepage.
After the new one, it will also display videos that you have started watching in the mobile application or via the Android TV application. However, this option does not work, so you will not be able to simply restart videos detected on your computer in the application. In this case, you’ll need to find and open the video the old way, either from the “History” section or from the playlist where the video is saved.
The web mini-player starts the video about a second before you stop it on your mobile. The text “Continue watching” will appear below the video title instead of the channel title. Click the play button to play the video automatically, and click the “Expand” button to enlarge the video to full screen.
The company is likely to implement the update incrementally
You will need to be signed in to the same account on both devices for this new feature to work. The feature was first noticed last week, and is now gradually reaching more users.
