Youth series SpangaS stops after fifteen years
After no less than fifteen years, the youth drama series SpangaS will come to an end next month. KRO-NCRV reports on Monday that the last episode of the series about high school students can be seen on Thursday 28 April.
The program pays attention to themes such as bullying, poverty, mourning and LGBTI issues. According to Suzanne Kunzeler, genre manager drama on NPO 3, it is time to get the message across to the young audience in a different way. “It is important that children can mirror themselves to others and thus come into contact with topics that make them think. At the same time, we see that children’s viewing behavior has changed significantly over the past fifteen years, so we are now exploring different avenues together. towards an up-to-date and socially involved children’s program.”
Looking back
In total, more than 2500 episodes, two spin-offs, two feature films and a podcast series have been made about the well-known youth program. Until the last broadcast on April 28, viewers can follow the adventures of the characters from the series every day on the online channels of SpangaS. Videos also look back on the past fifteen years and all the messages conveyed to young people in the series.
Bonus Episode
On Thursday 17 March there will be a bonus episode of the podcast De kleine Pause with Tom and Thorn, in which actors Tom van Kessel and Thorn de Vries answer questions from viewers about the news that SpangaS is going to stop.
