You can’t press iPhone 15 buttons (but you can feel them)

More and more rumors about the iPhone 15 are coming out. For example, it seems that you cannot press the buttons on the iPhone 15, but you can feel them.

Read on after the ad.

iPhone 15: buttons you feel alone

In recent years, all iPhones have a power button and volume buttons that you can physically press. Now reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tells that with the iPhone 15 that may change.

The iPhone 15 will still have buttons, but you can no longer physically press them. You still ‘feel’ that you are pressing the button, but actually the button does not move. The iPhone 15 uses special vibration motors to give you the feeling of pressing the button. Apple has already done this with the home button of the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone SE 2022. And you can also see it with the trackpad of the MacBook Air 2022, among others.

The new iPhones then get a few extra vibration motors (Taptic Engines), on the left and right side of the smartphone. Now the iPhone ‘only’ has such a Taptic Engine.

More RAM and Periscope Camera for iPhone 15 Pro

Kuo then said in another tweet that the design with these special buttons and the usb-c connection will be two of the big changes for the iPhone 15. Another recent rumor told that the iPhone 15 Pro will get more RAM and a periscope camera.

Apple Watch without buttons

A few years ago, there were also rumors that the Apple Watch would switch to these dedicated buttons. In the end, this never happened. It was then said that it would provide better waterproofing and take up less space internally. Maybe Apple will pick up the idea again for the Apple Watch Series 9…
