You can now take real-time ECGs on Garmin Venu 2 Plus

Thanks to a new update, it is now possible to make real-time ECGs on the Garmin Venu 2 Plus smartwatch. Unfortunately, the update is not yet available in the Netherlands, but there is a workaround, reader djmvt reports.

The update is now rolling out in the United States, but can still be caught thanks to a VPN (virtual private network). According to djmvt, you have to temporarily install a fake GPS tool and activate the function. Then turn off the VPN again and remove the tool. You can then make real-time ECGs.

An ECG is an ECG that records the electrical signals of your heart. In a graph you can then see a very nice transition of how your heart rate is doing at that exact moment. If you have all succeeded in using the tool, you can choose the ECG app on the watch and follow the instructions on the screen. We even have pictures of it, where you can see that the explanation is even just Dutch. In short, it probably won’t be long before the official update comes our way.

An electrocardiogram (that’s what ECG stands for) can have great medical benefits. You can, among other things, record irregular heart rhythms and possibly discover a heart problem. On the other hand, there are many people who simply live with a cardiac arrhythmia, so it certainly doesn’t always mean the worst if your heartbeat is a bit out of sync every now and then. But it is useful to show the ECG to your doctor, for example, if you are concerned.

For the time being, it seems that the update is only available for the Garmin Venu 2 Plus. Curious what we think of this watch? In our review we wrote that we are very pleased with the accident detection of the device, but that the battery life is also very good. In addition, there is a voice assistant and you can use it to make calls via your wrist. And, as you can see in djmvt’s photos, the screen isn’t bad either. And now this fine wearable has another plus: being able to make real-time ECGs, although we hope that the official update will also be available soon.

Do you ever make an EKG? With which gadget? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for the tip, djmvt!
