In the “Top News” section, the Upday editors put together an overview of the most important articles of the day. In the “My News” area, users will find personalized article suggestions based on their interests.

Users from 34 countries use Upday

Upday is a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE. The company was formed in 2015 from a partnership with Samsung Electronics. Initially, the app was only available for Samsung smartphones.

Since 2021, however, Upday has been available for all Android and iOS devices free of charge and without registration. The application now has a monthly reach of more than 25 million users in 34 countries.

About 200 employees currently work for the Berlin news service. A third of the workforce takes care of the tech area. Another third deals with economic tasks. And the remaining third consists of journalists.

Free choice: home office or Berlin headquarters

Like many other media companies, Upday’s employees work in a hybrid working model. They are flexible in their choice of work place. In addition to working from home, the teams can also use the Berlin headquarters on Axel-Spinger-Strasse.

On an area of ​​1,000 square meters, employees can use six meeting rooms as well as various work areas for their work and everyday office life. They work there in shifts between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
