You can file your tax return, DigiD problems are solved

People who want to file tax returns since Wednesday morning have had to postpone this. The DigiD login system was overloaded. Logging in to other government websites such as pension funds and health insurers was therefore also not possible.

DigiD problems have been solved

Wednesday, March 1, was the first day on which the Dutch could file their income tax return for 2022. The Tax and Customs Administration had already received about 60,000 tax returns that Wednesday morning at 07:00. The first report was filed just after midnight.

That number did not increase, because DigiD had been struggling with a malfunction since 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. DigiD is a requirement to be able to log in to the website or app of the Tax Authorities. Many complaints about DigiD poured in on Allestoringen and Twitter.

A spokesperson for DigiD administrator Logius indicated a day later (via NOS) that the systems were still overloaded because many people tried to log in to the Tax Authorities at the same time. There are 90 to 110 login attempts per second. Logius had been servicing their systems and expected improvement that afternoon. It eventually became a day later that the system, after more technical adjustments, was able to handle the many login attempts again.
