WhatsApp wants to address concerns: postpone a new privacy policy

It has been a noisy week for WhatsApp. The messaging app started showing the new terms and conditions, which cost the service dear. Now Facebook has decided to postpone the effective date of the new privacy policy to allay concerns.

New WhatsApp privacy policy will come later

Last week we heard and saw a lot about WhatsApp’s new privacy policy. The new conditions give Facebook even more options. Large numbers of users switched to other services such as Signal and Telegram. Apparently WhatsApp was shocked by this, because later a statement followed in which WhatsApp indicated that it would all be better. Messages remain private and cannot be viewed by others.

According to WhatsApp, there is a lot of confusion about the new conditions. For this reason, the effective date of the new terms of service has been moved. Instead of February 8, the choice has now been made for May 15, 2021. In addition, the service explains that it was never the plan to delete accounts, and this will not happen in the future. By moving the date, users should be given longer to read the conditions. In the meantime, WhatsApp also wants to provide more clarity about the privacy and security methods in WhatsApp.
