WhatsApp founder to Signal
Moxie Marlinspike has announced that it is taking a step back from Signal. In 2018, he launched the Signal chat app, a secure alternative to the established order such as WhatsApp. Signal was embraced by privacy experts and also by the European Commission because of its privacy. The messaging service is looking for a replacement for the CEO, but until then someone else has come to the helm. Marlinspike was left alone for years. For every malfunction he was ready to solve it. Dozens of people are now working on Signal behind the scenes.
Brian Acton temporarily takes over from Marlinspike. He was co-founder of WhatsApp. WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014. After a disagreement with the new parent company, Acton stepped out of the WhatsApp boat.
