WhatsApp Communities are being rolled out: other new features too

WhatsApp has announced that it is starting to roll out a new functionality for the messaging service. It becomes possible to use communities, or WhatsApp Communities. But what can you do with it?

WhatsApp Communities

For some time now there have been reports about a new feature for WhatsApp; the WhatsApp Communities. It’s a feature that should make using WhatsApp even easier. The feature has now been officially released and will be rolled out to every user from now on. This can take several days or weeks.

WhatsApp Communities gives users the ability to bundle group conversations into groups. This gives you faster access to conversations that belong to a certain topic. It is useful for schools, organizations and the like. Admins can migrate their chat group to a community. This is then visible to every user. Subgroups then make it possible to discuss matters separately. Service announcements can then be made in the general group. For example, a school can create subgroups for each class.

You will find the WhatsApp Communities where you now find the camera in WhatsApp. Top left of the home screen.

Other New Features

WhatsApp immediately took the opportunity to release other features as well. Everyone will soon have the opportunity to video call with a maximum of 32 people in a group. In addition, a function will be available with which polls can be created, so that everyone can vote on a certain something.

It may take a while until everyone sees the new features in the app. We wrote last week that it is now possible to hide your online status on WhatsApp, also a new function in the chat app.
