WhatsApp adds new privacy controls

WhatsApp announcement the implementation of new features related to user privacy. Now users can choose who can see their profile picture, last visit status and more.

Users can now select who in their contact list can see their profile picture, news and last seen status. Instant Messenger has also updated its security page to further explain the settings that are now available.

Adjust your privacy settings to control who sees your information. You can set your “seen at”, profile photo, news or status on the following options:

  • Everyone: All WhatsApp users will see your last seen, profile picture, news or status.
  • My contacts: only the contacts in your address book will see your “seen at”, profile photo, news or status.
  • My contacts except…: Only contacts in your address book, except those you exclude, will see your “seen at”, profile photo, news or status.
  • No one: no one will see your “seen at”, profile photo, news or status.

To set this up, open WhatsApp, head to Settings > Account > Privacy, and make your selections.
