what’s new in the iPhone update?

iOS 16.4 appeared this week and we already know the features of the next iPhone update: iOS 16.5. Apple has released the first test version (beta) of this. What’s new?

Read on after the ad.

iOS 16.5 beta 1: The new features

Just a day after the release of iOS 16.4, Apple is starting a new beta testing phase. On Wednesday, the company released iOS 16.5 beta 1, which is only available to developers. The public beta will likely follow later this week, or next week.

Screen recording with Siri

The beta is just out, and not all features have been discovered or announced yet. We do know that Siri is getting a new function. The virtual assistant lets you take an iPhone screen recording with your voice from iOS 16.5.

You do this by simply shouting “Hey Siri, start a screen recording”. This command records a video of what is happening on the iPhone screen. You can tap the red square to stop the screen recording, or you can also do this with your voice by saying “Stop the screen recording”.

Sports tab in Apple News

Another addition of iOS 16.5 – and which is not of much use to us in the Netherlands – is the expansion of the Apple News app. It gets a Sport tab. Undoubtedly, Apple TV + has to do with that, with which Apple is focusing more and more on sports. The company has already signed deals with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer.
