5 stylish iPhone cases that protect you for college life

The wild student life calls for sturdy, stylish iPhone cases. Those two things are often difficult to combine. Of course you want your iPhone to handle your rough life, but you don’t want to be a fool with a fridge in your pocket.

Read on after the ad.

Durability and style: these 5 iPhone cases offer it

As a student, you want to be able to go out safely with your brand new iPhone 12 Pro Max in your pocket. But, that expensive smartphone must of course remain a bit beautiful. On the editors of iPhoned we understand this all too well. Cracks are miserable and so are cases – but if you look closely, you’ll find some elegant yet sturdy ones.

Not all cases on this list have been tested by us. We compiled this article based on images, specifications and user reviews.

1. Otterbox Symmetry

Ask many iPhone wreckers for a sturdy case and chances are that the Otterbox brand will come along. Otterbox is known for its sturdy, almost indestructible iPhone cases.

Sturdy cases aren’t always all roses, however. The sturdier a case is, the more clunky. The Otterbox Symmetry strikes a balance between protection and style. The case has a sleek design and is available in many different colors.

Despite its relatively slim design, the Otterbox Symmetry also offers fall protection up to a height of about 2 meters. So you shouldn’t let him thunder down the stairs, but he will probably survive a night out. That is quite reassuring.

2. Tech21 Evo

Tech21 Evo

The Tech21 Evo is a popular case that you can purchase for any iPhone model. Compared to the Otterbox Symmetry, the case is slightly more expensive, but you do get more protection in return. This way, this Tech21 Evo protects your iPhone in the event of a fall of up to 3 meters, the manufacturer promises.

That good fall protection is due to the extra sturdy edges of the case. These cover your device on the sides, top and bottom and absorb the impact in the event of a fall. The case is transparent, so the chic design of your iPhone is not immediately lost. Keep in mind that transparent covers often turn yellow-brown over time.

3. Spigen Tough Armor

Another well-known cover brand is Spigen. Spigen makes covers in all shapes and sizes. Thick, thin, beautiful, less beautiful. The Tough Armor is exactly what its name suggests; a sturdy, solid case that looks quite coarse and industrial in terms of design. The case is made of hard plastic and silicone and available in different colors.

A nice addition is the built-in standard on the back of the case. This allows you to easily put your iPhone down while watching a movie. This always comes in handy on the way to school on public transport. Or if you don’t feel like paying attention during an extremely boring lecture.

4. Pela Eco

Pela Eco

Being environmentally conscious is completely Generation Z. And that’s a good thing. We urgently need to combat climate change so that we can keep the future Earth a little nicer. Fortunately, there are also phone cases that contribute to this.

The Pela Eco is made of a material consisting of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw. This makes it biodegradable. The cover will therefore never become part of the plastic soup. Pela’s iPhone cases vary greatly in price, based on the design you choose.

5. Casetify Impact Case

Casetify Impact Case

Do you want to go for that real influencer look? Then take a look at the Casetify website. Kylie Jenner also has such a case. Very important, of course. All kidding aside; it is a case that you say to you.

Casetify’s Impact Case is the most customizable case on this list. There are hundreds of designs to choose from, but you can also design your own case.

In addition to the appearance, the case protects very well because of the cushioning edges. Is the Impact Case not protective enough? Then go for the Ultra Impact Case. The biggest downside to Casetify cases is the price. This one is on the high side. So order a few less beers on the terrace.
